About NotePadr
NotePadr is a free collaborative writing platform that makes it easy for anyone to create, share, and collaborate on documents in real-time. Open the site, start a pad, send the link — that's the entire onboarding.
Our Mission
We believe that collaborative writing tools should be accessible to everyone, without barriers. Most collaboration software asks for an account before you've typed a single word, then meters what you can do with seat limits and paid tiers. NotePadr takes the opposite approach: no accounts, no payments, no complicated setups — just a shared page that works the moment you and your collaborators open it.
What Makes Us Different
- Completely Free: No charges, no limits, no premium tiers — really
- No Signup Required: Start writing immediately; collaborators just click a link
- Real-Time Collaboration: See changes as they happen, with each author's text in their own color
- Simple & Fast: A pad opens in seconds on any device
- Privacy-Focused: Your content is yours; pad pages are never indexed by search engines
Technology
NotePadr is built on Etherpad, the open-source real-time editor that has powered collaborative writing on the web for over a decade. Edits are synchronized through operational transformation, so simultaneous changes from many writers merge cleanly instead of conflicting. On top of that engine we've built a clean, modern interface focused on simplicity: fast pages, no clutter, and features like author colors, chat, and version history available on every pad.
Privacy & Security
We take your privacy seriously. All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, pads are stored securely, and we don't collect personal information — there are no accounts to profile. Site analytics are privacy-friendly and cookieless. Pad URLs work like keys: only people you share a link with can find the pad, and we explicitly block search engines from crawling pad content. For more details, please see our Privacy Policy.
Get Started
The best introduction is the product itself: create a pad, or read how it works and the FAQ first.
