Documentation
Welcome to the NotePadr documentation. Here you'll find everything you need to know about using NotePadr.
Getting Started
Creating Your First Pad
- Visit the homepage
- Click "New Pad" for a random name, or enter a custom name
- Start writing!
Sharing Pads
To share a pad with others, simply copy the URL from your browser's address bar and send it to them. Anyone with the link can access and edit the pad.
Features
Real-Time Collaboration
Multiple users can edit the same pad simultaneously. Changes appear in real-time for all collaborators.
Automatic Saving
All changes are automatically saved. There's no save button - everything is saved instantly as you type.
Pad Management
Visit the Public Pads page to see a list of all your pads. Click on any pad to open it.
Automatic Cleanup
NotePadr automatically cleans up pads that:
- Only contain the default welcome text
- Were created more than 24 hours ago
- Have never been edited
This helps keep the service running smoothly by removing unused pads. If you create a pad and don't edit it within 24 hours, it will be automatically removed. Pads that have been edited (even slightly) are never automatically deleted.
Tips & Best Practices
- Use descriptive pad names to make them easier to find
- Bookmark frequently used pads
- Share pad URLs securely - anyone with the link can access the pad
- Pads are accessible from any device with a web browser
Keyboard Shortcuts
NotePadr supports standard text editing shortcuts:
- Ctrl/Cmd + B: Bold
- Ctrl/Cmd + I: Italic
- Ctrl/Cmd + U: Underline
- Ctrl/Cmd + Z: Undo
- Ctrl/Cmd + Y: Redo
