Brainstorm on one page, all at once
A brainstorm works best when everyone writes at the same time instead of waiting for a turn. Share a pad, set a timer, and watch the page fill up in a dozen colors. Then sort, group and rank the ideas in place.
How to do it
- Write the question at the top of a fresh pad and share the link with the group.
- Give everyone a few minutes to add ideas as a bulleted list, one idea per line, without discussing them yet.
- Group related lines under headings, mark the favorites in bold, and export the result when you are done.
Why a pad works well here
- Simultaneous editing means quiet participants add just as much as the loud ones.
- Author colors show the spread of ideas across the group at a glance.
- The timeslider replays the session, so nothing from an early draft is lost when you reorganize.
- Markdown export drops the result straight into a wiki, a ticket or a planning document.
Tips
- Use the built-in chat for discussion and keep the pad itself for ideas; it stays cleaner.
- Ask people to set their name from the user icon in the toolbar, so the colors have names when you review the result.
