Shared meeting notes everyone can edit
Instead of one person typing while the rest watch, paste a pad link into the meeting chat and let everyone add to the notes as the conversation moves. The notes are complete when the meeting ends, not an hour later.
How to do it
- Open a pad and give it a clear name, for example weekly-sync-oct-19, so you can find it again from the URL.
- Paste the link into the meeting invite or the chat window. Nobody has to sign in; the link is all it takes.
- Add headings for Agenda, Decisions and Action items, then let attendees fill in their own points as they come up.
Why a pad works well here
- Every author gets their own color, so it is obvious who added what without anyone writing their name.
- The built-in chat keeps side questions out of the notes themselves.
- Version history replays the whole meeting, useful when someone asks when a decision changed.
- Export to plain text, HTML or Markdown when the notes need to go into an email, a wiki or a ticket.
Tips
- Create the pad before the meeting and paste last week's open action items at the top. Follow-up starts from the first minute.
- Use the read-only link for people who only need to read along, such as a stakeholder joining late.
