Move text between your phone and your computer
Sometimes you just need a link, an address or a paragraph on the other screen. Emailing yourself gets lost in the inbox, and a chat app needs the same account on both devices. A pad is a page both devices can open: paste on one, read on the other.
How to do it
- Open a pad on the computer and paste or type the text.
- Click Share and scan the QR code with your phone's camera. The same pad opens on the phone.
- It works in both directions: anything typed on the phone appears on the computer the moment it is typed.
Why a pad works well here
- Nothing to install on either device and no account to match on both sides.
- The pad keeps working for as long as you need it, so a pad with a name only you know can be your standing bridge between devices.
- Links you paste stay clickable, so a URL pasted on the computer can be opened directly on the phone.
- Everything travels over HTTPS.
Tips
- Anyone with the link can open the pad, and its history is kept. For anything private, use the random pad name the start button generates rather than a guessable one.
- On the phone, the native Share button in the share popup sends the link straight into any app on the device.
